video of me at the races saturday night
29 Sep 2008 23:40
It is the second race on the video. I pooped a little when the front end came up but cut a decent light. I still lost but I was racing a kid on a new 600 and he has about 50 pounds on me.

Nice race Don! Where you running a slick? Looks like a real sticky track.
I've never raced on a real race track, so I have no idea what that's like, but I do know that on most roads, my back tire breaks loose before the front end comes up.
And at what rpm were you shifting at? I try to shift mine right at 8000rpm, 8500 being the red line on my stocker. But if I let her, she'll scream all the way to 9000. She might even go farther than that, but I can feel she doesn't pull as hard up there.
But unless I ever get to do some real track time with real clocks, I can only go by seat of the pants as to whether I'm shifting at the right rpm.
Thanks for the clip!

Yeah still the stock motor. I'm sort of bummed the weather is so nice because I want to tear into it.

Nope no slick. I did notice the track was really sticky when I got up to the line. I didn't think it would pull like that with a 110 on the back. I'm shifting at around 7000. I tried going up to 9 or so but my times were better at the lower rpm. When I put in the 1075 kit I'll take it to a dyno and find out where the power drops off.

"pooped a little"
I've been laughing about that for five minutes. Good jump on the guy, though.
