Just the other day a Childhood friend died from a head injury sustained from impact with a utility pole, without a helmet. He was riding a scooter, probably would have saved his life. Please try to persuade everyone to wear a helmet no matter "dorkey' they might think it looks. I see young teens all the time riding them without, only go 35 but it takes less speed than that to crack your skull. Please, I beg you wear a helmet!

Scooters are everywhere around the college campus here in Madison, last month or so a kid died because he clipped the curb on his scooter and was thrown - smacked his head and didn't make it.

Wearing a full face helmet a few years ago when I layed down my kz 250 definitely saved the skin on my face (I have the scuffed up face shield to prove it), if not my life too. I always wear a helmet!

The wreck I had about 3.5 years ago would've killed me if I didn't have my helmet. It would've ripped my face completely off.

I agree. I always wear full gear, i.e. riding pants, coat, boots, gloves and Snell rated helmet. Before I got my new coat (with orange and white reflective stripes) I even wore a green safety vest over my old black coat. I've had some people joke with me about it and my response is this: "I'd rather be a live Geek than a cool looking dead guy!" With that said, I still ride with the thought that every car I see is going to either pull out, or turn in front of me. DEFENSIVE DRIVING!

Be safe!

Sorry for the loss of your friend.

I just had a wreck and the replacement cost for my helmet is $320.12.

I think that is a good trade off for my noggin. Roy

Helmets are cool and all, but aparently you dont need one if you ride a harley, because harleys are invincible. And sleeveless T-shirts make you go faster! Dont believe me, just ask the %90 of bikers around my town.

Thanks Roy, I've known Him since we were about 3 years old. I'm glad you got out of it with your life and Pray the you heal Quickly. It just rips at my heart that even a cheap 40 doller helmet might have prevented his deadly injury and really sickens me to see all these Teens riding without and that their parrents don't seem to give a D@mn. Not gona happen in my "house"! You can bet if my Sone rides He will have a Helmet and Gear.
