Dave M., A friend from work and one of the guys we rode with to San Luis Obispo this spring was killed on his way to a doctors appointment on Monday. Details of what happened are sketchy but from the newspaper, it says he was riding on a rural 2 lane road and pulled out to pass a big rig. Apparently he did not see that there was a vehicle slowing in front of the big rig to make a left turn onto a side road. He ran into the other vehicle, and was ejected from the bike. He died at the scene.
I know it sounds shallow to say now, but Dave was a safe rider. He always wore his safety kit, even in the heat. All I can think is that he didn't know that there was a vehicle in front of the truck when he pulled out to pass.
Dave was well known at work, and the place is in total shock the last two days. What is worse is that we took lots of photos on our trip in April and I probably have the last photos of he and his wife riding together on their 2008 Goldwing.
Please, all of you reading this, Be Careful--any time you are on your Bikes... Expect the unexpected.

Grant, I am so sorry. I hope all his family and friends are well.

Man that's a bummer Grant. This was not the duy that rode a Goldwing on a couple of our rides was it? I'm sorry to rear of any rider losing their life.

We lost one here too last weekend,2 guys on a bike that struck a bridge guard and both ended up in the water...the drivers body was recovered the next day...29 years young.
