Has anyone been to Mecum in Vegas?

I’ve been kicking around the idea of spending a couple of days at the Mecum Vegas auction. Does anyone have any advice to make the trip better? Best days of only going for a couple? Place to stay? I was thinking of getting the standard bidding package for $200 which if I read it correctly includes admission for (2) for all days.

Used to live in Vegas years ago, probably wouldn't recognize the town anymore though. No recommendations for lodging but that town is built for such activities so it shouldn't be a problem. Like any metropolis some sectors of that town are riddled with crime/gangs. Bring your fishing pole and fish Lake Mead. Or if you bring plenty of line and a rebel you could fish off the dam road, spillway side. Hopefully you don't get vertigo or scared of heights if doing that, ha. 

We know a couple who are into Z-bikes that have been there in recent years.  We'll call them today & ask.

   They stay at South Point Casino, where Mecum is held.  They indicate it's a few miles away from the main strip, so not a convenient walk to see the sights.  They tell us that If you hit the Mecum website & go to the Vegas (Mecum) auction info, there should be a link to the hotel with a room discount through Mecum.

He had knee replacement very recently, so they aren't planning to go to Mecum next year.
