Keyring hanger....
11 Mar 2025 05:07
Yesterday I looked for a suitable key chain, but couldn't find anything suitable. So today I made one myself. (Sure, it didn't turn out to be the perfect "K", but being old-fashioned as I am, with an old CNC milling machine, I'm unfortunately not able to program free trajectories...But it´s OK for me, and it havn´t fly to the moon
The machine itself is 37 years old and still works very well and precisely, but it is not a modern CNC and I do not use CAD/CAM for it (or rather, I am not capable of it, the machine is not plug and play, I have to program all data sets in X, Y and Z directly into the machine).

Your "old" cnc is still a step up from mine.
I have next to no chance of doing that "K" with my manual Harrison.

Thanks guys,
first and foremost, I just wanted to show that if you can't buy something, there might be a way to make it yourself...I´ve had the idea yesterday while im working on a kz1000 head,...and found a pice of 1" aluminum in the restbox,..and done it quick`n dirty...in an not so high quality kind
...... (It was not my wish and the target, to advertise my products here at all, .. I run a small metalworking and equipment manufacturing company, but of course, my options are limited....
,..and of course, all it cost a part of money.. ;-(
@zed1015Yes, Robert, it's possible to engrave a "K" with your machine: If you have a dividing head! (Of course, the workload is immense, but in my case, the radii on the "K" are all graduated circles of an exact diameter, NOT expanding trajectories!
Unlike modern CAD/CAM systems, my planning begins with a drawing on graph paper. Then I calculate the necessary coordinates, paths, and trajectories, and program the machine directly on the screen.
I run an Bridgeport interact 412,..it´s in fact a 2,5 D CNC mill,..with dialog-programming only direkt on the machine,..( Heidenhain 151), sure, more possibilities as on a just mechanical mill,..but not really 21. century
But thats OK,.. i am also hopeles oldschool ,..do my job withit,..and something i can´t do it withit, i don´t take the orders about..
My lathe is a Weiler "Primus", fine little thing, but also limited in wideness to clamp-diameters: 125 mm max.
For me, as a self emplojee mechanic i´ve been satisfied enough with them all the past 20 years,..and now, at an older age,..i cool down my business stepwise...and just accept orders that are been done in a kind of stressless work

Today i´ve done a limited unit of the hanger-discs a little more professional:
Here I will simple guide you through the process of making the ring discs...3 machines are involved to made the whole progress:
First a bandsaw, ( not realy necessary
Second the lathe
Third the CNC milling center.

Unfortunately, neither do I.
..I´ve tried to put them in a slot machine,...but doesn´t work for the big cash win...
But I am just a simple suburban boy,... and not the whole day on the hunt for the big money,...just need it like everybody to live...and survive.!
.And .ya all know it: When you know whats the costs of the meal, it doesn´t have a good taste anymore....
