You could also consider a hub motor. Either a cast wheel with integrated motor, or one that you lace to a rim. For some perspective, I used one of these on a fat tire bicycle www.cnqsmotor.com/product/qs205-hub-moto...electric-bike-motor/ it did wheelies with a 45mph top speed šŸ¤£ nuts! I think it did 11kw or so peak.

Thanks for the info and the link. I looked at one kit that IIRC has a QS138 motor - will need to find that again.

I'm not planning to use a hub motor, though. Using chain and sprockets will introduce a little bit of drag but allows the flexibility to change the final drive ratio, and the rolling frame already has matching wheels with usable tires which I'd like to keep.
