1980 Z1 classic question

1980 Z1 classic question was created by Claude.
I pickup some parts this morning and saw that there was a complete 1980 Z1 Classic at this place. At first sight, it seems to be in quite decent condition.
Is there some value related to this bike? Is it worth buying and restoring?

2017 Versys 1000
1982 KZ1000J2
1983 KZ1000J3
1982 GPZ1100
1983 KZ750L
1982 KZ1000J2 (another one!)
2017 Yamaha FZ07

I don't think the Classic holds any special value over other KZ1000's of the vintage. It's got fuel injection which was unique for it's time, but the system wasn't bulletproof by any means and may be somewhat troublesome if/when it fails.

If you can get it for a good price I say why not?

I ignore the model suffix letter (didn't find it in the recognition PDF document). That one:

I know the EFI system was not 100% working nor bulletproof. I think some owners even converted them to carbs.
To my eyes, a 1981-83 J model have more value. If this "Classic" was a highly collectable unit, I would probably pick it up. Funny thing is that the place I visited do have TWO of this "Classic" model. The shop owner was absent so I did not speak with him; I'll get back there as his wife told me he have some more bikes and I want to see them.
Among those I saw this morning, there was also a 1981 1000 CSR but its condition was about average.

Ah, I see, nearest model to that we in the UK got was the Ltd I think. I thought you were using "classic" as a generic age description hence the question.
May be totally different in the US but Ltd's and SR's have very little desirability here.

Same here, at least to my eyes. Among the models I'm looking for, there is no LTD, CSR or Spectre.

The 1980 Z1 Classic is a very nice bike in my opinion. I would value it higher than a J model.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

I did not buy it. I spoke with the shop owner and he want $5500 CDN (about $4200US) for it.

That was a good price if the bike was in top shape. One recently sold through Mecum Auctions for $6,050 US.
