So im very close to securing a 1984 gpz1100-A2 "project bike" in the next week or 2, Iv owned the GPZ 500s, 550 and 750 unitrack in my past bike life and am excited to have the 1100-A2 in my life. The only thing is it has been stripped down and streetfighterd to use the term loosely. Parts for her body wise are nearly non existing over here in Ireland but thare are a few more GPZ 750 out there, im just wondering body wise are the parts interchangeable? Mostly the headlight and mounting bracket, the difference is 700 euro vs 250. Also im keen to run regular carbs on her rather than fuel injection, has anyone done a conversion, thanks in advice for solid information.

The 1100's are much larger bikes than the 750. I doubt many parts interchange although the headlamp may be one such item. If you look at a parts fish such as on Partzilla you can find interchange info for the parts. Worth a look anyway.

Did you keep it injection Ned? IV heard nothing but bad news about them mate, all iv ever known is regular carbs and id like to stick with it but doing a conversion makes me nervous.

Is it turbo charged? Naturally aspirated is an engine that doesn't see positive intake pressures i.e. not turbo or super charged. I assume you mean replace the FI with carburetors?

A lot of GPzs have been converted to carburetors. If you have the later style head that does not have the injectors in the head itself, I believe it is a pretty straight forward conversion.
There is no reason to be afraid of the injection system. It is a simpler system than what is found on modern bikes. Sourcing certain parts can involve a bit of sleuthing,
Some were converted back in the day when guys were scared to dive into a different system. Some were converted as part of a performance enhancing plan, as electronic injection is not able to adjust to changes in camshafts, exhausts and such as readily as modern digital injection can, and there was a time not so long ago (especially pre-internet) when sourcing parts was almost impossible for most folks.

Thanks Texas, its not about performance, from what iv read its a fairly solid bike power wise, just plain old reliability, she will be my new work horse bike, in and out of work bike, i live 40 min out side Galway city on the west coast of Ireland and if something goes in the injection system well thats me done, from what i can see parts are hard to find normally and even harder when you are on a rock in the middle of the Atlantic. If you know of any threads on the subject id be glad to be pointed in that direction.

The common swap was to use Z1000J carbs instead of the injection.

I have two GPZ1100UT, both in driving condition and one as a parts bike. The EFI injection system is bullet proof and easy to maintance/adjust/repair.
Will upload an EFI Troubleshoot and Training Manual tonight to the filebase.

Thanks ScIrocco thats real good of you. shes a non runner so do you think trouble shooting her will be a problem? plus how does weather or does it effect the injection system? If i can get it to work ill run it and see if there are issues out side that ill look into the z1000j carbs, thanks Zed.
