Well, I bought a used head from a friend and: after wasting for USPS to deliver it 8 days late: I started the project again. I spent few of hours getting it cleaned up and seating the valves. Installed it last night and all that is left to do is put the carbs and exhaust back on. It should be running by tonight.

The bike is now together and running well. It is burning some oil so I need to check the valve seals. And the tick is still there so while I have the valve cover off, I will make sure the oil passages are clear. I have put on about 80 miles on it (mostly freeway up to 75 mph / 6000 rpm) and it cruises along just fine.
