Anybody here have one of these bikes in their stable?
I have a rear wheel/hub from a 88 zx10 and need to confirm the stud size, what I am seeing online is not what I am showing on my calipers. I ordered a custom cut sprocket to get the desired number of teeth I need for my 530 conversion and it will not fit over the studs, nor is it as large as it should be. So, any help would be appreciated.

According to Partzilla, that should be a 10 X 24mm stud.

As you can see on the Related Fitment chart, Kawasaki used it on several models between 1987 and 2000.

Thanks, that is what I was able to find as well in my search. Just wanted reinforcement from anybody who had one if theirs matched up with the diagram as well.

My issue is that the studs I have measure at 11.8 mm and the sprocket that came off of the hub measures 12.6mm.

The aluminum one is the sprocket that is measured for the ZX10 hub. As you can see, it does not match with the one that came off of the hub.

As for the rear sprocket it looks like you orderd or get the wrong chain pitch.

I specified a 530 when ordering so unless they made it wrong I can't be sure.

It still seems strange to me, even if the previous owner of the wheel had drilled and tapped the hub for larger studs why the sprocket I received is so much smaller than the one that came with the wheel. Look back at the pictures, black sprocket is what came on the wheel, and the aluminum is the one that was just made for me. The new sprocket is almost 2 inches shorter than the old one.

To bring it all full circle. I was able to speak with the company who made the sprocket for me, Sprocket Specialists. They did not do anything wrong and have agreed to allow me to ship both sprockets to them so they can remake the sprocket to my hub. Seems as if i assumed my wheel was OEM and the studs were the same size, should have measured first.

Perhaps the wheel is from a 1986-87 ZX1000R. It is the only big Kawasaki I have found that uses 12mm studs. Even the mighty ZX14 uses 10mm ones.

Good find, and you may be correct. The wheel is for sure off of a 88 zx10, but the hub studs are not.
Here is a pic as it currently sits.

Nice build.

If you click Insert or Insert All when posting pics, they will appear big and pretty in the posts and lazy readers will not need to click on a thumbnail. Just sayin........
