UK Registration of KZ1000j1 was created by Sdew
Hi - Can anyone help me regarding finding proof of age of my 1981 KZ1000j1 please.
I’m trying to register the bike in the UK but need proof of date of manufacture before they will give me an age related registration plate.
I have engine and frame numbers and the frame sticker is stamped 8/81 for the manufacture date. Without a pink slip though (which I don’t have) I need a more official record to prove the age of the bike.
Can anyone help please?
Many thanks
Simon

The Kawasaki service manual has the frame number info in the model application chart on the back cover.
There is an 81-83 KZ1000/1100 pdf FSM available here on KZR.
Also, I would think an 8/81 date of mfg would make it a 1982 1000-J2. I think June is usually the cut-off month for a model year. It's not unusual for the model year & mfg year to get confused when titling a vehicle.

The manufacturer's frame sticker is not enough? That is some kinda crazy right there. If the government will not accept the sticker or serial number list on the back of the service manual, I suppose you could contact the company to find out if they are willing to find the information for you. Surely, there has to be an easier way. We have several UK members here. Hopefully one of them has a good answer.
