Anyone know of a good replacement for this petcock? Ideally a manual petcock. I don't want a vacuum petcock.

I've rebuilt it the current one. Replaced the O-rings and it still leaks. I just need a new one.

Thoughts?

Your bolt-hole spacing should be 44mm center-to-center. Someone on another forum put an oem Yamaha Raptor manual fuel valve on his Zephyr 550 & I think the Zephyr is 44mm. not 100% sure, though. The Yamaha fuel cocks vary in shape & the way they fit under the tank >> some of them are squat & would be tucked tight against the tank, while others hang down more.

The Yamaha Raptor fuel cocks are made in Japan & affordable. Be sure to verify the bolt-hole spacing beforehand.
note: some of the Yamaha fuel valves are 34mm.

I'm in the same boat here. I did manage to get mine apart, cleaned all the gunk out, etc. It doesn't leak, but man is it hard to turn. Not a great design.

I spoke to someone at Mikes XS (which I guess is related to Z1) and he said that this petcock has a 46mm bolt center when ours is 44mm.

I'm thinking that some gentle drilling of the mounting holes will make it easy to bolt this up on our bikes.

I want to do the same thing. Let me know how you solve it.
( Im using an inline tap between the petcock and the carbs. Not ideal but it works for now)

On the OEM parts fishe they list two petcocks for the 650B; an early version and later type. The later type looks identical to the petcock on my 750, which I was able to successfully rebuild with OEM parts. I wouldn't attempt a rebuild unless OEM parts are available, and there doesn't seem to be any of the early petcock rebuild parts anymore. At any rate, just sharing my experiences.

I ended up buying this plate:

www.z1enterprises.com/pingel-petcock-ada...CsbWeVRoCPz8QAvD_BwE

and used this petcock (bought it on Amazon):
Bikers Choice Early Style Petcock 011409

I had to dremel the hole on the tank where the petcock enters (not the screw holes), but it all fit perfectly and i haven't had a leak from the gas tank or the carbs since.
