Z900 RS? was created by KZQ
Hi Guys,
I've decided that I'm going to get rid of a couple of bikes in order to get a bike with ABS. I like the looks of the Z900 RS and would like it more if Ma Kaw offered saddle bags as an option. I've read that the fuel mapping is less than smooth. Have any of you ridden this bike?
A friend who works at a dealership that carries both Kawasakis and Yamahas is really pushing me toward the Tracer 900 GT which comes with a windscreen, a center stand and bags.
Comments, up and down appreciated.
Bill

If you start to want a bike with a windshield and bags.

Sounds like the first symptoms of old age to me!!!!!!

Wait to you start to want a bike with a sidecar!!!!

With all my health problems, the sidecar idea has crossed my mind.

A good dyno operator should be able to remap for a much smoother throttle r

Having put more than 60,000 miles on a Concours 1000, I am completely sympathetic to the lure of hard bags, if for no other reason than they are a convenient, safe place for your riding gear when you go into a restaurant or other business.

If you are leaning more toward the touring side of things, the Yamaha makes better sense to me.
I prefer the looks of the Kawasaki, but for a week of sport touring, I bet I would be happier with the Yamaha.

Hey Bill,

You can always accessorize the 900RS

And when you are feeling you need a bit of a change you can also keep this on hand.

Those Shad side cases look really interesting, though I really despise the look of that tank bag and have never been a fan of the rear-top trunk business, unless a regular passenger is involved.

I use a soft tank bag and soft side bags for long trips, and find I have more space than I need.

I rode one owned by a guy I've known for nearly 50yrs and still has a 1975 Z1 bought new. My take, not worth buying. His take really similar. He will get rid of it soon.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I'd hate to spend that kind of money only to find it wasn't what I expected. :pinch:

I looked at them when they first came out and was disappointed in the quality of them. Front brake master cylinder is not nearly as sturdy as the originals. Hoses to the water cooler on the one I saw were poorly installed with clamps....they could have been better done with threaded connections. Lots of little stuff like that. And this was a bike show demo.

I'm starting to think about a cruiser for longer trips. The Z1's are OK for day trips but that's about all my ass will handle on them.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
