Yesterday (Saturday), Cycle Sports Ltd. of Houston closed its doors after 38 years of servicing and customizing Japanese motorcycles.
The owner and his mechanics provided quality maintenance and repair for all the older bikes that dealerships wanted nothing to do with. They built race bikes, including a class winner at Pike's Peak. They also built some amazing cafe bikes, including one that Yamaha displayed in their booth at Barber Motorsports on a race weekend.
They are fun guys to hang out with.
Their support of our hobby will be missed.

Bummer, hopefully they can continue on a smaller scale with less overhead .

Not the first, won't be the last. Speaking from experience on this.. It's tough paying the rent when you don't make any money. It's a cutthroat business, and online vendors like fleabay and amazon don't have high overhead with low volume like a bike shop would.

I see it all the time, people want to buy the cheapest junk possible themselves, then want me to deal with the cheapness, and install materials that I don't make a red cent on, then make it work, THEN cover it with my insurance and guarantee it to keep working.

Lots of reasons for this closing, I'm sure. I try to support my local BIG every freakin brand known to man Kaw dealer, but they are sooo fukd up, it is faster to drive there, than call them to check on a part. It's easier to hop online and order from partzilla.

Good shops are really hard to find, so it's extra tough when one goes under.

I had a solid 10 to 12 shops, some dealers, some independent around me back in the 90's. They are all gone now, and I have no Kaw dealer within an hour of me that I know of. Hopefully I can find some place to install/balance tires for me.
