So get this...
I got a steal of a deal on a used 06 Yamaha Virago 250. 91k, near mint, new tires... $500!! The guy in my town was selling it quick because he needed some xmas cash. I ran over, took it for a test drive and yup, agreed to purchase all within 12 hours of posting. Great gift for my wife. She's been on the fence about riding but if I just gave her a small bike that would be a good start and if not, sell it at profit. No lose situation!! I offered him $25 to deliver the bike and said no rush we have a week or so until xmas. He said no problem he'll load it back up on the flatbed and and deliver that night. Great! So I've got the bill of sale filled out, cash in hand, garage space made waiting for this new little addition to the motorpool. Playing video games with my little guy and an hour goes by, then two... Hmmm. No big deal. I don't mind a night delivery. Sure enough he pulls up and I'm out the door like a boy at xmas!!
Guy - "I called you several times. Did you get my message?!"
Me - "No sorry."
Guy - "So as I was on my way over when taking a corner the motorcycle's wheel turned and... yeah... it flew off the trailer right into the road. I f'ed it up"
Me - <standing stark still mouth a gap>
Guy - "If you don't want it I understand"
Me - <approaches slowly, unspeaking>

I look it over. Mirrors smashed off, right side handlebar bent inward a couple degrees, scrape marks all up and down the left lights and side covers, headlight bracket broken, worst of all heavily gouged and dented tank.

Me - "Well shit. You smashed my xmas gift."

I'm glad as hell I hadn't handed him the money before delivery. Feel bad for the poor bastard. But I told him, truth is, this bike is still worth more than $500. Runs great. Just not the right bike for me anymore.

He sold it today for $400. Lol. Still a bargain at that price.

Too bad, that would have been a great starter bike.
We found a beautiful low mile Suzuki 250 for the Wife , she rode it 10,000 miles and we traded it in when she got her current bike, a Yamaha 650
Paid 600 , sold it for 1100 and I think they got a deal
