I'm not a new bike guy but that sure is tempting. Looks like they did a real nice job with a retro bike - something we have been asking for.

I love the retro bikes, but didn't the Honda CB1100 sell terribly? Previous attempts at selling retro bikes in the states have been luke-warm at best. The Zephyrs did not really do well. I wonder if it's that anyone who really wants a Z1-looking bike will hold out for a real Z1 or even a Kz900/1000.
I will say, though, it's nice that Kawasaki actually sells a bike I actually like, for a change. Ever since the ZRX disappeared, it's been pretty grim on the styling front.

Retro triumph bonevillles (+varinats), BMW r9T and ducati scrmablers are selling very well. the stupid yamaha XSR, less so, but that was a modern bike with aluminum frame trying to look old.
i think this 900 looks X10 better than the honda, that 1100 looked limp, the kawi is swank

Does anyone know the price yet?
I suspect that there are folks on this forum spending a lot of time and money adding all these mods that could save them selves a lot of trouble.
Here is another bike to be released soon.

The reason the retros never sell in my own opinion is they are not the latest, fastest ugly crap sportbike, so that cancels out a lot of riders. The remaining riders considering like the looks, and don't care it doesn't go 155mph, but prefer a comfortable seat, easy maintenance via a centerstand, big seat capable of tying on at least some luggage, like a rainsuit. Well the retro models all have a few common denominators. They must have a shitfuck seat with no place to tie on luggage, must come without centerstand, although sometimes an item that can be purchased after sale. Also must be really tuned dullsville. A CB1100F Honda in 1983 was a fast motorcycle for it's time, a modern CB1100 is about a second slower in the quarter mile, uncomfortable, and no place to carry anything. Looks to me like the 900 Kawasaki will follow. I can already see the seat ect, ect. lack of centerstand. Friend of mine owns a 1974 Z1 since new and bought a new CB1100 and rode it like 500 miles, went back to the dealer and said basically "I'm not riding home on this thing". He got a new V-Strom Suzuki and loves it. Look into the adventure bikes. Style not competitive with the retros, but function the way a retro should.
