Got one motorcycle, '83 KZ550 Spectre. Completely stock sans an unknown 4-into-1 exhaust and pod filters.

But if we can throw pedal bikes in too...

2012 Marin Ravenna 105. This was my daily commuter until I got the KZ550.

Early 90s Bridgestone CB2 I started building and never completed. Stock was Shimano Exage Country 3x6, I converted it to a Shimano Deore LX 3x9.

2001 Specialized Rockhopper A1 with 3x10 Shimano SLX. Has Deore hydraulic disc on the front now, eventually I'll do the rear too.

And finally, the old commuter, '87 Bridgestone MB2. The rear derailleur broke and I ended up eventually stealing most of the parts off of it, now it's sitting as a mostly bare frame. Plan on going touring bike with it, a-la Surly, aka drop bars, mud guards, racks, the whole nine yards.

I did have to do an inventory, some mentally, I do have quite a few but I label them my 401 retirement, condition ranges from oh my to turn key enjoy. I've bought out of salvage yards, hell, first time I met Dave I drove 30 minutes and bought a nice Z1R chassis I was needing to finish one. I live in Indiana, met the owner of the chassis while at mid Ohio and bought it while I was in Michigan. Bought a Z1R in Louisville Ky, got there to pick it up and emptied my wallet and took every nickle I could out of ATM to purchase another Z1R roller plus a 74 or 75 Z1 and parts. Bought a 75 Z1 off here, just bought a 75 Z1 I found on facebook. They are disappearing but they're out still a few out there, just got to keep eyes and ears open.

Here's the list

1 69 Honda Z50 mini trail
1 74 Z1900
2 75 Z1900's
1 76 Ltd 900
3 76 KZ 900's, 1 is a turbo
1 76 Z2 750
1 Yamaha 90 with 707 original miles
2 77 Ltd 1000's
1 77 KZ 1000
1 78 KZ 1000
3 78 Z1R's, more like 2-1/2, one is a roller with no body work.
1 79 Ltd 1000
1 83 GPZ 1100,
1 94 Zephyr 750
1 2005 trac dynamics big tire, future turbo build

Looking for a 77/78 kz 650, a kz750 twin, any triple, early 70's CB750 Honda and a late ZX250, 2010 or newer.
Fresh out of 2 stroke Kawasakis but have 1 in the shop for part development

Guessing you guys keep liability insurance on em along with stickers and plates? Have the tanks drained and oiled along with the carbs drained? Then all those battery's to keep charged or swap a few around maybe....... I've often considered on adding a few more but it seems like my 650 keeps me busy and broke enough already. I can see storing project bikes I'm talking runners that you drive yearly and how you keep em ready to go. Hats off to you guys true bike crazy and I mean that in a good way.

Most of what I have are project bikes, some may even turn into parts donors but I'll keep buying them. I keep the nicer ones in a good storage area that's dry and well kept, some are in an old barn, dry and up off the ground but kinda ugly, the runners another and up and coming projects stay here in the shop.

I have 5 bikes. I ride them all year long so maintenance is, for the most part, only tire pressure checks and oil changes.

83 KZ550
71 CL350 w/sidecar
08 Dyna Lowrider
10 Ultra Classic LTD.

Always looking for one more barn find. I bought and sold 3 barn finds this year alone.

Don't fix it until it's broken.

And another one headed this way! He had 2, this Z1 and a 77 KZ900, he insisted this was a KZ and the other was a Z1, had his pricing on them wrong based on that so, I own another Z1.

How many is too many? Speaking strictly for ourselves... if we have to move one outside in order to move one into the service bay, we have one too many. We're almost there...

1974 Z1-A. One owner; slmjim bought this new in March, 1974. Factory paint. Period custom. Easy one-day return to stock if desired.

1975 Z1-B. We're third owners since late '80's. Complete & unmolested. Factory paint. Period custom. Lowered at both ends + LTD-style seat for Z1BEBE to be more comfortable on it. Has one of the most pronounced primary gear whines we've ever heard from a Z-motor. slmjim rides it sometimes just to listen to the music. It's a perk of being her wrench.

1974 Z1-A. We're second owners since late '80's. Only thing needed was replace obnoxiously loud Kerker with 4-4's. Otherwise complete & unmolested. It's coming out of mothballs this winter to be ridden in 2018.

1973 Z1. Late '72 manufacture date. Twelve-years-stored barn find after flood in early '90's. Other than that we don't know the history. First time Z1BEBE saw it she secretly thought slmjim had lost his mind, but he could see the diamond in the rough. Original paint (!) was salvaged by careful rubbing with jewelers rouge, daily, for two months. Bike was complete & unmolested when found, and had been put to bed basically right. Floodwater stopped just short of entering the intakes. Intense 18 month frame-off resto.

1975 Z1-B. Complete & unmolested eBay find, needing some love in late '90's. Shown here with NOS tankset & OEM pipes we had stored for years waiting for the right bike. Easy three month resto.

1973 Z1. Late '72 manufacture date. Found this in NY as a total basket case in 2009; bare, repainted frame with OEM VIN tag, dozen or more boxes of disorganized, grimy parts, correct-numbered empty cases, correct jugs and head, and a rusted-stuck '75 motor for a donor crank and trans. Switchgear & instruments were already restored. Guy we bought it from wasn't the one who took it apart, but he said the guy who did take it apart was pretty sure that maybe everything was still there. He thought... Aftermarket Japanese tankset from Z1 Enterprises. The vast majority of the correctly date-coded parts were in the boxes. Ward Preformance did the head. Runs like a top. As of this writing has approx. 300 mi. on it since completion in Aug. 2016. A seven year, piece-by piece resto effort, we named this one The Seven Year _itch.

Continued 'cause the site whined about "too many links".

We bought a pair CB750 Nighthawks in '93, the only year they were made in two colors. Targa color matched bikini fairings. Z1BEBE sez her Candy Red one is purdier & faster. slmjim sez his Candy Tahitian Blue one is more handsome and faster. Currently showing 65,000+ mi. and 68,000+ mi. respectively.

2009 ST1300A. This was somewhere south of Pueblo, Colorado. It's really Z1BEBE's bike; slmjim is simply the lowly chauffeur, tasked with spiriting m'lady safely across the land in search of adventure.
