Speeding Ticket Near Waller, Texas

I recently got a speeding ticket on my other bike. Went to the Kangaroo Court, but wound up paying the fine. Should have hired a lawyer. I had not received a speeding ticket in 29 years, so I was overdue. There were only two lanes on 290 heading westbound, just before FM 362. There was some hothead tailgater behind me, and another car beside me. No space. So I sped up to get out of the sandwich. The road was making a gentle curve to the left and coming over a rise, so the police vehicle showed up very quickly. Got all over my brakes, heard the tailgater's tires squealing as (thank goodness) he braked as well. Anyway the cop had his radar precisely set. The perfect speed trap from a police perspective. Note: STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM WALLER, TEXAS.

Later, as I rode out to the Kangaroo Court, I held my speed at the man-killing 55 MPH limit. Nearly got my ass run over. I was passed by 58 vehicles within a 5 mile span. This created road rage big time. I got passed by 18 wheelers; lawn care crews with their trailers; little old ladies in their Mercury Gran Marquis; everybody. I did not pass one vehicle.

The only good that came from all this is that I got 65 MPG while riding this slow. I have gotten mid 50s when doing 70 to 75. Small consolation after paying the ticket. I would have felt better if I had flushed the money down the toilet. Rant is now over.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Speed limits are stupid.

Couldn't agree more...especially in the land of photo radar....does absolutely nothing to make roads safer...just an easy revenue collection.

The city I am currently living in had to replace one on their most profitable corner 2 years back as a gentleman put a .308 round into it
