Clymer or original Kawasaki service manual?

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me which one has more detail and overall good content---the Clymer manual or the Kawasaki Service Manual? Does either one have part numbers?

Thanks,
Jeff

The Kawasaki manuals are hands down the best source of information for working on a Kawasaki. The books do have part numbers and are specific to different bikes and years. Check the Bay for a good deal (I spent $20).

The genuine Kawasaki Service Manual is the very best source of info. It's LOADED with good stuff to help you understand, maintain, and repair your bike; they are worth their weight in gold. In comparison, other manuals are weak, and they sometimes contain incorrect info that was corrected in the Kawasaki manuals. Ed

Given a choice, take the Kawasaki manual over any aftermarket manual. That said, some Kawasaki manuals are difficult to source (but some are even free...on-line) and may take time to locate...eBay being the best source of used Kawasaki manuals. You neglected to mention what model Kawasaki you need the manual for. Remember, NONE of the Kawasaki shop manuals have part numbers (except for unusual model-specific parts and special tools). For most parts, Kawasaki numbers are available on-line on the Kawasaki site or other aftermarket sites. There are also a number of Kawasaki manuals and parts manuals available from an aftermarket supplier in New Zealand.

I'm referring to the books themselves being a part number. As far as motorcycle part numbers there are other available catalogs and online sources as mentioned.

Please clarify the question regarding part numbers. The Kawasaki Service Manuals do not contain part numbers for individual parts of the motorcycle; there are Kawasaki Parts Catalogs and online resources that do that.

However, there are Kawasaki part numbers for each of the Kawasaki Service Manuals. The service manual part number is printed on the back cover of each manual. If you tell us exactly which year and model bike you have we may be able to give you the correct part number of the Kawasaki Service Manual for your particular bike. Keep in mind that you will need the manual that covers your exact year and model since there are significant differences between models. Ed
