I can't speak for the 750-Twins, but the 650/750-4 engine is considered to be bullet-proof. I saw a youtube video several years ago in which a 750-4 was placed on the center stand then run at high rpms with the throttle locked open. It took forever for the engine to die. I don't know why they did it, but it seemed like a rather stupid thing to do to what appeared to be a nice bike.

The 4 cylinder KZ750 engine is an extension of the KZ650 design and is very, very similar. The KZ650 is, as Martin stated, pretty much bullet proof. One member here (Ronkz650) has logged 168,000 miles on his KZ650 (see link below). I have a mere 60,000 miles on mine, so it's still a youngster compared to Ron's, and I have never pulled the head or had any engine work performed outside normal, scheduled maintenance. It has been an extremely reliable bike and even though mine is now 39 years old I do not hesitate at all to ride it anywhere including out of state. Ed

That sounds very good. Thanks for the information.I was all in on kawasaki 4's a few years ago.A genius mechanic friend and I were going to restore and or modify some.I had a 81 kz 1000,was going to be cafe since the prior owner had already hacked on it some.Plus I had 3 frames, one with a title.Still have that frame.Plus I had 2 1000 cc engines, extra wheels,2 more gas tanks. As usual we had dreams and no money. So now i have a frame, one rusty tank, one useable tank as a reminder of my failure.I do love the ujm4's.I owned 2 gs 850 and 1 gs 1000 before also.My friend now rides a nighthawk 750 he built the engine for from multiple parts. But he can machine, bore, hone, even sandcast parts if needed.
