Oh we did pull the valve cover and only #3 exhaust is under spec (.025... .02 went in .03 wouldn't) but there is clearance. Compression check showed all 4 130 or close to it. . I ordered a Kawasaki Valve shim tool which should be here Mon or Tue. Tomorrow I'll actually do an inventory of what I have on each hoping I can just swap two around to get them all into spec. I'm shooting for .10 seems to be in the middle of .05 to .15 mm per FSM.
All I did today was a min clearance check using .5 mm and it slid into all, some pretty loosely, except #3 Exhaust.

I put in a new shim and while it's still only .05 mm it is in spec. I'll check it after I put some miles on it. I did get the carbs rebuilt and the billet cam plugs installed. Fired right up once I plugged in the igniters.... My son got over zealous with his cleaning and took every electrical connection apart to clean them. I kept telling him do one at a time. We were just about to get it running and I went in to eat dinner and a friend of his came over to visit. After about 30 minutes he cam in the house with a very sad face. Said he tried to start it but no go. So I went out and pulled the plugs and no spark. Voltmeter said I had 12 v to the coils so I figured it had to be the igniters. Traced down the wires and sure enough he had missed that connector when he was re-assembling. Now I just need to get a new front tire and finish up the brakes. But it does run and idle... sounds wicked! Can't wait for my first test ride. I'm stoked!

Pretty good actually. Pulls like a freight train. Starts easily with 1/2 choke and I can go to no choke after just a few seconds. I set idle mixture and sync and it purrs like a kitten. Well more like a Tiger! Have a couple of leaks that I need to address. Just got the alternator cover gasket in the mail today and the speedometer cable. Stator wire grommet is leaking. Maybe tomorrow I'll have time to work on it. I also need to pull the carbs. I think #1 is leaking past the float valve or float valve seat O-ring. If you remember I had my son do the clean up on the carbs after I showed him what to do. I didn't bench test for leaks... My bad. Not a big problems as these carbs and air box are easy to pull. I had forgotten that the BS34 carbs use an O-ring below the float needle seat and I'm thinking that is the leak. If not it will be the valve itself. In any event I'll get it fixed and put on a new tire. Then it's on the road for good.... Yahoo!

FYI the fuel leak started the next day after I treated her to some Techron in the fuel. That stuff is amazing for cleaning fuel systems. I guess it cleaned my carbs too good...LOL
