KZ700 Bogs down when releasing clutch. Ideas??

But heres my issue. I brought it home, flushed the tank and got it to run half decent. I put 10 miles on it last night. But today I went out and attempted to take it for a spin. It idled fine, revved fine, but as soon as i let the clutch out it started to bog. I noticed the kick stand switch, and figured that might be it. But then i really revved it and let the clutch out and it was able to move, but kept bogging whenever I let the clutch out, literally almost dying on me. So I ruled out the kick stand switch.
The carbs were recently rebuilt and synced, but I believe it could still need some tuning done to it.
I'm not asking for a quick fix, but rather a place to start. Plugs seem to be on correctly, its getting fuel, and the clutch seems to be functioning properly. Any ideas? Thanks dudes!

Would first assure that the advancer is properly functioning.

Am thinking you are correct in that the KZ700 doesn't have a mechanical timing advancer with springs and weights.
The following thread may help somewhat, but doesn't get into how to check timing, with, for example, a timing light.

Is a Factory Service Manual available?

The manual includes 1984 KZ700-A1.
The following timing info is from page 409.
Perhaps the manual provides more detail about checking timing with a strobe light in another section dealing with a KZ750 model.

If the timing checks out okay, would suspect imperfect carb pilot circuits.
Will the engine freely rev up with the transmission in neutral?
Is it possible to get up to road speed in the mid-throttle range, say 60-70 mph, to evaluate performance beyond the pilot circuit?
In other words, is performance otherwise acceptable except for low rpm lack of power and bogging at pull-away from idle?

Also realize that the bike needs to be in a proper state of up to date maintenance before you can diagnose running issues. Things like properly adjusted valves, the airbox and air filter installed, or the carbs properly tuned for any mods, etc.
