The decal on the steering head, assuming it is still there, can confirm date of manufacture.
Once you have the bike, posting some good pic can help folks here identify what you have bought.

Not in the way that muscle car owners can. You can determine if the serial number and engine number fall into the model year for that model, but that's about it.Rumple44 wrote: Is there a way to pull up the VIN # to get some info on the bike?

Yep. My old 85 Honda XR250 had dual carbs. Actually worked really well...

Can check out info from zedder which could be helpful toward determining whether the bike at hand may have started life as a B1 or B2 or B3 or B4.
