Help with Identification so I can purchase an FSM

Still working on the Rear MC. I have some parts out for paint, found a leak on the front MC so it will be the next on the list of repairs. Anyway a short update but I'm here to ask help with model identification.

It came to me with an Assemblers Title saying its an 1980 but im not sure. the Body tag on the head is gone and a new number stamped in that matches the title. I think its more like a 1978, The tank, side covers and tail piece that came with it are painted red with pinstripes. the side covers have LTD 1000 tags. The motor serial number is KZT00AE 066652.

Looks like a '78 LTD to me. The brakes changed in 1979. Ed

Motor VIN fits within the 1978 KZ1000B2 model motor series.

79-80 had the MK II motor which had the squared valve cover with the air pollution reed valves, not the rounded off one like yours


also the point cover looked like this


also 79-80 came with drilled discs


& in 1980 the speedometers only went up to 85 MPH

Is there a way to find out the factory paint color or should I assume the red color with white and a pinkish strips to be original

The maroon tank in your picture is from a 1977 KZ 1000 A !

I know that i have responded several times in a row here but I keep remembering things Id like to ask after I hit the submit button. I found a manual for my year and your interpreted model but heres the question. The manual is titled Factory Service Manual Supplement. The listing states it is 20 pages and the cost is $39.00 is this a full manual???

Thanks Pete. If you so sure these body parts are a 77 then is it possible the bike is a 77
