Beautiful bike Dave. This is my favorite of all the BOTM so far. That's because it's personal. Reminds me of my 74 that I purchased in the early 80's sold in the early 90's (one in my avatar). Purchased it while in college and it was completely stock, minus the LTD seat. First chance I got I threw away the 4-4 exhaust for a brand new Kerker 4-1. Then proceeded to do an awful rattle can paint job. I wish I would have known about buffing paint back to life and polishing cases back then and at least kept the 4-4 in storage, I could have brought back to its glory. I still think the 74 root beer brown with the orange strips is the nicest Z color scheme Kawasaki had for these bikes. Maybe followed by the 75's . Lovely bike Dave. Congratulations!

I would firstly like to thank Dave for considering my bike for Novembers' Bike of the Month and to Joe for putting it all together. Secondly, I would like to thank everyone for their positive comments about my Zed, it is very much appreciated. There are a lot of very talented individuals on this site who do fantastic work and seeing what is possible from this forum and its members spurred me on regularly. I would like to mention that a lot of people helped and supported me through the build as there was no way I could do everything myself. There were many times when I was discouraged and needed a kick but in hindsight I spent a lot of quality time with my son, good friends and others that I ride with.
It would seem that totally by accident I got back into motorcycling at a time when these bikes were somewhat reborn and after lusting for an LTD years ago, I got one to use as my first restoration. However, once I had it on the road, I began to wish I still had a Zed so the search was on. As the picture shows, my specimen was rough but affordable and I began the project. Due to work travel, funds and already having a rider, it took way too long to finish but I am happy now that it has been running perfectly.
Unfortunately the LTD is up for sale as I have an '88 ZX750R that has become my trip bike and as insurance is dumb, it has to go. But, I have another 1000 project started and the stable will continue to be green!
Thanks again to all that helped, you know who you are!

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Hey Tony, how's everything in the Great North? Have you put your bike away for the winter yet?
Yeah, I must have been going through a dumb and dumber phase. I wanted to try out a more modern sport bike. So much memories on that bike. That's why the current BOTM pulls at my heartstrings.
Cheers!

Hey Joe
I am going to try for one more ride tomorrow before the bikes go away for the winter. Will try to grab some pics of friends' bikes at the coffee shop.
Thanks for all your work on BOTM.
