Do these wheels weight as much/ more than standard?. I was amazed what the difference was between the GPZ900R rear and my previous Z1-R, with the swingarm the difference is about 6Kg (13 lb I think).
They look fantastic regardless.

First Permanent ride the Z1R since Dec1977 (220,000km) as of June 2015
Second permanent bike 1989 FJ1200 dyno'd 140RWH, great bike.
Third ride is now the Frankenstein 1981 GPZ1100B1, 1983 fully recon motor fitted LOVE THIS BIKE
Forth my work bike FJ1200 1989 (same type as FJ above)

Well, the older wheels are heavier than most new wheels to begin with and I'm sure the widened wheels are even heavier with the added material. I would suggest updating to newer wheels if you're comfortable with all the fab work - spacers, brake rotors / calipers, speedo drive etc... I liked the stock look and I'm not worried about a few pounds here and there so I just went the widening route. I'd like to do a modern suspension / wheel project one of these days.

Very nice Pete, Congrats! My first KZ1000 was an '80 LTD. I really like that stock-inspired paint...looks great!

I just noticed you got it in the mid '80's for $1200...me too! I think I got mine in '87 but it was $1200 from a dealer. Around 6k miles and 100% stock and nearly mint. Wish I still had it.... :(
