This is the end of the saga of the CHINESE chain. I will buy a O ring 630 chain and sprockets soon. I plan on spending $1000 Got a list.
I bought a gold "High quality" chain on eBay.I didn't know it was made in CHINA. The master link started coming apart right off.


Seller wouldn't respond and eBay was covering for him.

I can't tell if you're joking, but pretty much everything is made in China these days. "You get what you pay for" is still true within that spectrum though.

I recently converted one of my bikes to a 530 setup, using RK Chains RX ring chain (with a rivet master link, of course). So far so good. Definitely quieter than the 630.

Over two years ago I put the chain and sprockets on the bike along with new wheel bearings front and rear. The chain was still in the box wrapped in plastic. Right off I was getting some kinks in it. I found this "high quality" chain on eBay. It was gold like the one I had and looked good. After I installed it I googled the markings. Came back CHINESE. I tried to contact the seller then eBay. It's been too long. WTF. No warranty? The only way to contact him was if I bought another one. :angry: F it, I bought a standard chain and decided to run it until I could afford a whole new set up. I expect to get 30,000 miles out of the next one if I take care of it.
I've been thinking on the conversion. We'll see.

First long break in ride. 200+ miles.
I'm starting to ride it as I would normally. Using the power on take off, to pass, etc. I'm still holding under 7000 RPM. Mainly shifting at 5-6000 when I have to. Roll on power is there but I noticed if I hold a steady RPM for long, it won't pull as strong. I'm not going to baby it anymore. Took some shots up there, a job my daughter is taking on, coming down I 15 and stopped at Chapperal for another master link. No warranty on chains. Looks like I'l have to buy somewhere else.






Pit stop half way down the mountain.






Good for tires and small items. Too commercial for me now. :whistle:


I taught her well. I'll help her draw up the plans and she will pull her first permit. Going to cut out the wall for a double gate.

Just my 2 cents but I'd never go down :huh: on chain size especially on a big cc bike..... No matter where it was made :ohmy:

It's been done for years with success. I'll stick with the 630 for a while longer.
The safety wire? It was gone when I got home. Time to check the counter shaft sprocket.

I've run the safety wire in a pinch and not lost it. Are you using the washer shim behind the front sprocket or ?

It's the correct sprocket with the raised area on the back. I'll try some stiffer wire. I used what she had for her chicken coop.

Did the loop. PS to DHS and home. Hit 500 miles and grabbed a hand full. I didn't get to red line, didn't have to. Still running hotter than it was but it IS hot today. Two more weeks and it should break.
