California has dropped the Motorcycle Safety Foun. was created by KZQ
Actually the California Motorcyclist Safety Program requested bids for 2015 through 2017 and added some new requirements which the MSF felt it couldn't live with.
Here's a pretty good synopsis of the goings on:

I've never had an opportunity to take a class from Lee Parks through his "Total Control" program but I've read his books and I'm way impressed. I know the fellow who's leaving his position with the Idaho Star program to help get things rolling in California and I know he'll make a success of it. Good Luck Ax!
There's also a good forum thread here about the new direction California is going in.

I've been following the Motorcycle Safety Foundation for some time and can only say that I'm excited to see how this new chapter plays out.
Enjoy

Replied by runmikeyrun on topic California has dropped the Motorcycle Safety Foun.
I've taken a few of the MSF courses in Ohio, once when I started riding and one of the more advanced classes a couple years ago. I've always been impressed, the instructors are VERY knowledgeable and extremely good riders. My gf went through it last year to get her license and they taught her well.
I recommend it to anyone, new or experienced, as I found that it's easy to develop bad habits over the years. I'm glad that at least California is keeping some sort of program.
