Water buffalo was by far the superior motorcycle for the streets. H2s though can be made to put out good power. Paul Gast would port the cylinders and modify the inlets to accept the Lectron carbs, along with many other things I'm sure, but the H2 Prostock Dave Shultz ran was running in the 8.60s or 8.70s in the quarter mile back in the day, and many, many H2 were running low 9s in competition. This was back in the interesting days of motorcycle drag racing, when they ran nationals more or less like NHRA stock, super stock ect still runs cars today, on an index system or head to head, depending on class. No dial your own numbers. So yes, I think 130hp H2 is a realistic possibility, but I don't think it will be a grocery getter streetbike. Purely race numbers. Neat stuff though. I still have a H2. Fun for the occasional Sunday ride. You can more or less filter out the bull from truth by looking at the engine. If the inlets are still stock with addition of bigger carbs with a Uni or K&N filer attached, then the claims are bogus. Paul would machine the entire intake somehow to even get the Lectrons to fit. Been a long time, but it was good stuff. Easily seen while looking at a race engine.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Why not? Research Paul Gast and Dave Shultz (RIP) Early days on Pro Stock Kaws.
All hand made , modified parts. Thats what it took

Theres a big difference between an old pro stocker and a bike with a set of 34s and some expansion chambers.
That's like saying you can make 200hp with a kz1000 with a header and a set of carbs,You need to mention the rest of the supporting cast that goes with it. :woohoo:

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

H2 750 Triple 130hp yes it is possible streetable NO tons of money and mods YES I have one that I just purchased for myself I am after 100hp at the crank with stock modified carbs, expansion chambers, porting, squish bands redone in heads in my opinion you cannot beat the look of a 72 H2 ! but I love any vintage Kawasaki and do not believe the advertised denco specs they were way over what they made HP wise. a PROPER BUILT 100hp H2 is a blast to ride !

I run into a few buddies up this way who have H2s, and love them.
I myself have only ever experience an RD350lc for 2 stroke comparison.

A few years ago I restored two 72 h2's they came out just about perfect. I sent one engine to Larry Smith@ redline performance , a friend of a friend, He asked how fast do I want to go. I gave him some n.o.s pistons and early 72 h2 jugs( they have a different port design and are rare ) and told him a stock rebuild will be fine.

You want to make a H2 go fast look here, Larry Smith is the man

Here is my 1974. By 1974 most guys had moved on to better pastures. Only reason I bought it 36 years ago was that a Z1 or KZ1000 was much more expensive. Notice the carbs sit in position that the bowls dip down into a valley. Machine work to rectify this problem to enable fitting of race type carbs meant angling the intake up slightly so carbs no longer were in that valley. After owning this motorcycle for all these years, i still fail to see much appeal in owning a H2 other than bragging rights.
