Yes by all means stay! That year/model is deceivingly fast and handles curvy bits quite well. Wish you many happy trouble free miles.

I too own other bikes, one being a 2011 Concours 14. I enjoy it but yes mine is a bit heavy around town. I did install an Area P full exhaust with carbon can, Power Commander V and pulled upper throttle body butterflies. It went from mid 130 horsepower to mid 160 hp. The torque is now between 100 -110 ft/lb. It does have the ZX 14 base engine before the longer stroke in 2012. Man does that thing pull hard for sport tourer. Going to ride from IL to CA later this month. Will put over 4,500 miles on in 1 week. It should be a good time with a lot of saddle time.

Forrest, thanks for the tip on the bike. Are 98 & 99 models different from the rest of the years? I've been looking for an FSM and I noticed ones i've seen skip the 98, 99 years, or are 98 & 99 unchanged from the 97?

Anyways, here's what my new Mistress looks like.

No sure about your model year Bob. I would utilize an owners forum dedicated to the Concours models like >>> concours.org/

Beautiful color on that bike. AND, those Michelin Pilot Road 2s are great tires. B)

Forrest, a little research says the '98 & '99 had no significant changes from the 97 aside from paint color. I do like the color of the bike but would have been just as happy with black. This is my first experience with Michelin tires. The great thing is the tires had less than 150 miles on them when I bought the bike. Do you have experience with them? How are they in the wet as it seems all it does around here as of late is rain?

Dave, what are your plans for your two Connies? Make one out of the two, restore both? That '93 looks like it's had a hard life. Always amazes me how people can spend money on something and just run it into the ground and abuse it.

Bob the 93 is just real dirty from sitting under a
lean to shed since 08.
Under the dirt it's in real good shape with 33,000 mile's.
and I do have all the plastic's for it.
The 87 I'm not sure about I don't like the way the motor sound's.
I did the valve adjustment but it still has a lot of top end noise.

The cam chain tensioner is known to stick a bit on these. I don't remember the solution but it is a common problem. Maybe that is the cause of the noise?

Dave,

I like the '93. Is that a Rifle windshield? I j have a Rifle on mine and think it's the best windshield I've ever ridden behind. Black is my favorite color on any type of vehicle and the red stripe on the '93 just looks right to me. Whichever one you put back on the road, make sure to share some pics.

The Pilot Road 2 is a great all around tire. When railing corners in tight technical sweepers and mountain twisties you may notice some howl. Some find it a distraction. I liked it! Very good mileage tire. I did switch 3 years back to the Michelin Pilot Road 3 tire. It has even more aggressive siping. The PR 2 is quite good in the rain. The PR3 is absolutely the best rain tire I have tried to date. I am currently having a new set of the latest version, Pilot Road 4 spooned on today. I will be happy to report back on them too. Bottom line; all of these Pilot Road MIchelins are very good for all purpose sport/touring. I recently put the new generation Michelin Pilot Power 3 sport dual compound sport tire on my ZRX 1200. So far it is holding well with no squaring-off in 2,000 miles.

The Michelins were on the bike when I bought it. He gave me the sales receipt for them. According to the mileage written on it they had 132 miles on them. I haven't noticed any howling but I haven't really gotten completely comfortable with the bike yet plus knowing the tires are brand new I haven't really "attacked" any twisties. It's nice to know it's a good tire and I'll report what I think of them once I've gotten some milage on the clock.
