Am curious as to the reason(s) for attaching the lower banjo fittings at an angle instead of flush like the upper fitting.

I'm curious Les, why do the bottom banjos have to be angled? I understand the the "Y" concept but would it not function the same with the bores drilled at an angle and the banjos flush? Just curious.
