I was wondering if any of the Canadian members on this site find their insurance policies have gone way up in price. I was insured by Jevco Ins., and since they got bought out by Intact Ins., my insurance cost has doubled in the last two years, what a ripoff!!!. Anyways why I am posting this subject a friend of mine told me to contact Dalton Timmis Ins., and all I have to do to get cheap insurance, is have my bike appraised by one of the companies that they recommend and that is going to cost $100.00, however my premiums will be reduced by 60%, since my bike is over 30 years old, so really it is going to cost me half the price of all of the other companies, with the appraisal included. Does anyone here insure with Dalton Timmis Ins? If you feel you are paying too much, I would give this company a call, www.daltontimmis.com

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

I switched to Desjardins Ins, a few years back, and it came down from $550ish a year from Primmum Ins. to $250ish with Desjardins.
Second year with Desjardins and paying $275.

I just checked my policy and I'm paying $371 to The Personal which is a Desjardin company and based on what Rob is paying it looks like I'm paying to much. I guess I'll be phoning around for quotes come renewal time.

I have been with Dalton Timmis for a few years now. I was paying $442.00 a year which I thought was reasonable based on the coverage on my '78 KZ1000 LTD. I put my 74 Z1 on the road almost two years ago and the price was $360.00 for a bike that was appraised for double the money? When I questioned the price initially on the LTD I was told that the rates were based mostly on liability. When I questioned the rate on the Z1 I was told it was based on the appraised value. The only benefit was a 10% discount for both bikes even though you can only ride one at a time. I think they use a dart board for answers when you ask for information as there doesn't seem to be any rationale for why things price out the way they do. I am putting an '88 zx750R on the road this year with any luck and I was quoted $710.00 last fall when starting the price shopping even though the same bike quoted as a 750 GPZ was going to be $405.00. Might have to replace the decals with GPZ stuff. I think I'm going to sell the LTD to finance some insurance and to finish the 750.
