I'm assuming that was a Virago shaft drive, since you refer to someone called redvirago, not the chain drive RH920, totally different bikes, only thing they had in common was the 920 motor.
In Europe it was called the TR1, and I believe it was an 850.

Red virago is a mod a virago tech forum who specializes in electrical.
I too have simplified the harness but it still wasn't simple enough. Today there are some real good threads of creative people building simple harnesses for them.
The 81 to 82 xv920r that was chain was identical to the tr1 except the 920 was 920cc and the tr1 was 980cc.
I have 980 jugs in my motor build. And I will be 1000, high compression, all tricked out.

Among other improvements, the 920 RH and 920 RJ had enclosed chains that ran in a grease bath. I have no idea how long a chain would last, but I know it's much more than the 15000 miles I put on mine.

People have reported 60k on the original chain and still fine. Lol.
Too bad it weighs a lot.
