Back in 1988 or so, I sold my KZ1000S1 Superbike to someone in Japan. That was the last I ever heard about my bike.

A few years back, I sold some parts to a gentleman in Japan. In our emails I told him that I once owned a S1 but sold it to a guy in Japan years ago. The next morning I had another email from my new friend in Japan with a copy of the paperwork from Kawasaki when I bought my S1 serial number 00062. He told me my old S1 was within 300 K's from where he lived. We have kept in touch by email over the past few years. I have sent him gifts and he has done the same to me.

I emailed him the Ebay listing for that Super nice S1 serial number 70 that was for sale early this month. He wanted that bike real bad, but got outbidded in the end. Since then he has been trying to buy my old KZ1000S1 from the person that bought it from me years ago. In his recent emails he told me that I would not want to see what had happened to my old S1. I was under the impression that it got wrecked.

Well I got another email from my friend in Japan and you will never guess what he just bought?? My old KZ1000S1!!!! The old owner tried to make a street bike out of it. So I just found out it was not wrecked as I thought. At least I know its got a real good home and a very caring owner now. I really miss my old bike now that I know for sure where it is. Just wish I could afford to buy it back!!!!

Its definitely my old bike. I am not sure how he is going to restore it, back to original S1 specs, or back to the way I raced it.

Good news!...and I seem to remember discussion of your bike (and the original sales ad) on www.kz1000r.com several years back.
