My buddy Porchev914 has an A2A and it was almost exactly the same as my A2 when both were in stock form. No fairing or bags on that bike.

I think the Spirit of America special touring model built in Lincoln, NE fell into the A2A time frame in manufacture also.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

RonKZ650 wrote: A2A was simply a later production 1978, where the A2 was early production. Late production was to change carbs setup, eliminate the headlight on/off switch, slight revisions to exhaust, new black paint as an option. All the emissions, noise and safety government mandated at the mid 1978 time frame was why this was done, not sure if California actually had anything to do with it or not, but the A2A was sold throughout the entire USA later in the year where the A2 was sold throughout the entire USA previously.

Agree, All the A2A's were made after January 1st, 1978. The lack of the on/off headlight switch was the best way of spotting one. Only the old style Kawasaki Microfishe show the different part numbers for the two RH switches. All that newfangled computer parts diagrams don't even show there was a difference!!!
January 1st, 1978 was the first times motorcycles sold in the U.S. had any type of emission standards. The A2A's did not run as good as the early models. Thats when 29mm Smoothbore sales went through the roof!!!!
