Just out of curiosity , Where is the kz750 twin in comparison to other kz models ? The good and the bad from guys who have ridden this and other bikes. Is the 750 twin a fast bike or is it all in my head? Regardless it is fun to drive around.-Tyler

I believe the KZ750 twin was made to capture the vertical twin market of the day. I think it was intended to lure the Triumph / BSA / Norton owners and the Yamaha XS650 owners over to Kawasaki. When the KZ750 twin was introduced (model year 1976), the only other vertical twins in that class still being made were the Triumph 750, the Yamaha 650, and a few (roughly 1500) leftover Nortons, so anyone wanting a new vertical twin had few choices. The 1976 KZ750 had 55 hp and weighed 504 lb; the Triumph 750 had 50hp @ 415 lb but cost more; and the Yamaha XS650 had 50 hp, weighed 485 lb, and cost less. The 1976 KZ750 was not a big seller, but it did well enough not to be dropped from production.

In model year 1977 Kawasaki brought out the KZ650. This 4 cylinder model is quicker and faster than the 750 twin, but was not a direct competitor in the vertical twin market so Kawasaki continued making the 750 twin through 1979 and even made a 1982 KZ750 twin for the Canadian market. The KZ750 4 cylinder model came out in 1980; it was faster than the KZ650 and far faster than the 750 twin. Ed

Ed, you've got a few mistakes there, but then you're a 650 guy, so, nice try :P

76-79 KZ750 were the "B" model, single disc front and rear with wire spoke wheels.
1980 KZ750G, pretty much the same as the "B", but with rear drum brake and mag wheels.
1981 model 750 twin don't exist.
1982 KZ750M1 CSR, same motor as the "B" and "G", with air injection into the exhaust, with wire wheels and rear drum brake.
1983 KZ750K1, same as M1 except for belt drive.
1984 KZ750K2, Canada only, same as K1.

And that's pretty much all she wrote, for the 750 twin.

750 twin lover myself, even though I also have a ZX11, and a ZX12.
750B is my avatar

It's faster than a KZ400 and a VW Beetle, but most other bikes are faster.
The 750 twin is not about speed, it's about enjoying the ride while getting 50+ mpg.

If speed is what you want, the ZX14R will do the job, or for less money the ZX12, ZX11, ZX10R, ZX10, etc will generate some thrill.

When I get the money around and the girl isn't looking I will probably get a second bike. I do love this 750 twin though. Although my 750 twin has a lot of acceleration, and Ive been on a couple of race bikes ( offroad ). Is your 750 twin stubborn when trying to cruise at low speed( 35mph or lower)? My bike is OKAY at low speeds but doesn't like to cruise for sure. If I attempt to ride anywhere below 40 it is stubborn. Give it a quick nudge and I go right pass 60 in a heartbeat. I have a small muffler but for the most part my exhaust is open headers. Can you describe the way the 750 twin is suppose to drive ? Ive been doing all this work on this bike and I don't even know if its driving right. Thanks

In high (5th) gear at 1500 rpm you should be able to twist the throttle wide open and the bike should accelerate without complaint. No bogging/jerking/acting up, at all.
