Bought a bike to hold me over till my kz build was created by Hollywoodmx
So the summer was going by and my buddies were riding every day and I got too jealous. So broke down and bought a bike to hold me over.
It's a 2005 Buell lighting xb9sx. It's a pretty fun bike. Feels like no other bike I have ridden. I thought I might lose my love for the kz but I rode my gpz after I fixed it and my heart is still in the kz style. Now I'm really looking forward to having the kz engine and stance with modern suspension.
It needed some maintenance love buy she's running fine.

Nice bike. A buddy of mine had a lighting, he rode it hard. Eventually laid it down one day in a turn (blamed oil on the road). Ended up parting the bike out after that since repairs would have required tranny work.

I rode a Buell a couple of times during the World Superbike Races at Laguna Seca (manufacturer demo rides!)and I remember them being fun bikes, if a little "agricultural". The first time I rode one, I remember the bike running very hot and detonating like crazy. "This can't be very good for the bike" I thought to my self. The following year I rode one that had a built-in fan blowing on the motor and it made a marked improvement.
All in all, I had a good recollection of the improved version. Good luck with your new purchase! Paul

Ya I love driving this thing, its super unique and sounds bad ass! It ridiculously pops on decel just like my GPz, I love that. It's also a leaning machine due to its trail and rake. Its forcing me to learn aggressive cornering which I like. Definitely a hooligan bike. I don't see my suite of bikes without this bike in it.

They are a riot!
It has made me a better rider for sure. It's so flick-able and nimble it blows my mind. Mind you I had spent a good 4 hours tweaking the suspension to get it just right. The suspension is VERY sensitive due to the abnormal rake and trail of the bike.
Rake (fork angle): 21.0°
Trail: 84 mm (3.3 inches)
Fuel in frame
Oil in swing arm.
385 lbs stock!
