Most passengers don't understand the risks of motorcycling, so it is your responsibility to make sure the bike is suitable for two-up riding. Just expressing concern for the passenger. Personally, I would never get on the back of a motorcycle.

I have a low mileage '83 KZ 750 LTD with shaft drive. It has a soft, squishy rear suspension even with preload maxed out and the damper set on its firmest setting. (It's currently in the shop getting Hagon shock/spring assemblies.)
When I asked the group about the rear suspension I was told the original factory components weren't very robust and probably needed to be replaced. It sounds like your components are probably not in any better shape than mine were.
Besides the potential mechanical issues with the bike, it's possible that your passenger is simply moving around a bit too much. If she's leaning too far in one direction or the other it could upset the handling of the bike.

have her scoot up tight towards you.as tight as she can get...it ,akes it like one person is the rider...trust me.... I am 300+ and my gal is trying to catch me...
