I'm insured with Foremost insurance, wholly owned by Farmers Insurance.
For the last three years I've been invited to ride as a traffic marshal for the bicycle races here in Central Oregon. I volunteer my time and they replace my fuel. I don't carry photographers or race officials. I ride with the local motor officers (Police) to manage a rolling enclosure ahead of and behind the pelican (the group of fools who actually pedal their bikes). It's truly a gass! Riding with the police motors ups my riding every year. These folks can Ride!
This year another race organizer offered to pay a $20.00 per hour plus fuel for me and some other riders to transport race officials for their race. I pointed out that accepting remuneration for riding would not be covered by a policy that covers "pleasure use" only. The whole scheme crashed while the race organizers considered their options.
In the mean time I contacted my insurance agent just to make sure we were on the same page. I was correct I can ride as a marshal as long as I'm not paid to do so.
Here's the rub! The frigging underwriter while acknowledging I'm covered, says that Foremost doesn't like the risk and will refuse to renew me upon my next renewal.
I can, and you should, do better than Foremost and Farmers Insurance! :sick:
This is the same Foremost insurance that has been sponsoring Larry "the worm" Pegram's road racing program for the last dozen or so years? :blink:
