visor fog was created by sig
It's raining here in Sacramento. Not having ridden much i decided to get a little experience riding in the rain early this morning. My visor stayed fogged at all times when it was mostly or all the way down. I have a vent in the front about mouth level but that wasn't enough. Anyone have a fix for this?

Spit stops a diving mask from fogging....Spit, wipe, try again.
They also make some anti fog for googles but i dont know if it works any better then the spit.

Any other vents than the one on the front of the helmet? If so they should be open.

You can also crack open the visor a little bit both when you're moving and at a standstill to improve circulation within the helmet and prevent the build-up of fog.

If its a really big problem than you can do what us snowmobilers do.
Make a breath deflector out of duct tape which directs all your expelled air from your nose and mouth down and out the bottom of your full face helmet. The secret is to seal up your eyes and shield area from your breath..

Or buy a snowmobile helmet with this feature built in and just remove it ( Its made out of Velcro and foam.) when not needed... Some also have heated shields which take care of the problem if its really extreme

Or keep spitting :woohoo:

My new helmet came with a deflector.
Look your helmet up on line there should be one for it
unless it's an old helmet.

Nolan do an anti fog system called Pinlock. I have had it on my last three helmets.
it can be retrofitted to most road helmets.
It is clear (or tinted) plastic about the same thickness of your visor and it is held in to the inside of the visor by two pins, one at each side. It does not fog up at all!!
It can be unclipped afor cleaning/drying. water will run down but only after heavy rain or prolonged riding in moderate rain.. probably an hour of riding at 65mph in moderate rain will let the water in.

To retrofit you have to drill your visor, which could put some people off, or you could by a Nolan with the pins already installed

Thanks for the tips, I've heard about spit in goggles, will try it :P all vents are open, it has a part to help air flow but maybe it's too small.

Is that what you meant by deflector?

Get a Fog City and your problems will be solved. I ride year round in Seattle and it's the only thing I've found that really works. The Pinlock version works too, but only if you get the gasket to fit properly. Most motorcycle shops have them for around $20.

better helmets do it too...rainx wipes help...i was watching GP and a few riders had fogging this year..enough to lose points /places....vented 2013 top design helmets with plenty of wind too....will your helmet stay open about an inch ,,,that helps me....oh and dont ride in the rain...not you unsafe...cars.....they are like 50% more likely to not see you or not stop in time....and it makes streets oily...unless you have to...then wear neon and light on and be safe...imho
