Bought another KZ..pics and video inside

I had to sell my 1977 KZ1000 to buy this KZ900 but I really wanted it so I did it.

This bike was custom build in 1980 by a shop in Southern Cal. The seller has had it since then and has only ridden it 3-4 thousand miles. It has sat for the last 8 years. I was able to get it started by flushing the fuel system and cleaning the carbs but it didn't want to idle on it's own and it fluttered out when it got to 4-5k rpms. It has spark and compression so I'm thinking the ignition needs maintenance. Anyway here's the pics and video.

I'll be changing the oil, checking the points and condensers and changing the velocity stacks to K&N pods and then try to start it again. It weird, I road it down the street one day and then it would't start the next...so annoying

Im not a fan of red bikes, but that one looks pretty nice! Sweet pin striping too!

Yeah, maybe this winter I'll take it apart and paint the frame black. There's a couple things I wanna do.
Change the rear wheel back to a 18
Paint the frame
Change the gauge buckets to black or chrome
Eleminate the rear fender
Ride it

Red not a bad color, in doing some research on actual sales of bikes, not 'wanted' prices, it seemed like red paint jobs consistently closed at a little higher sale price.
I like the idea of more original black frame, that will look better on that bike!

Nice bike!!!! I'll flag you down if I see it tooling around Seattle. I agree about a black frame, my vote would be to get chrome instruments as a lot of work went into polishing the ally and it would fit in better. Great score.

I think its looks nice. Only thing I dont care for is the red gauges. Rest looks sharp!But thats just my 2 cents
