so here is the final tally.
10 broken ribs, a pierced lung, a broken bone in his back, head laceration stapled shut and brain swelling.
he is diabetic so what we gather his sugar bottomed out and he went into insulin shock.
it was witnessed by a pastor of a local church. he said one second he was holding on to the handlebars and the next his arms dropped off and he went down. he is the one who ran up and ripped his shirt off and pressed it to his head wound.
he is in stable condition and his surgery is Tuesday to have the metal plates and screws done on his ribs.
they are trying to keep him sedated because he wants out of the bed. he removed the breathing tube himself.
so far the few moments he does wake up he has no idea where he is and why he's there. mom has to keep telling him he had an accident. he has no memory of it at all. probably a good thing.
yes jeff he does have medical insurance and the bike is full covered. I forced him to get supplemental underinsured coverage and extra medical on his bike policy after the last time.
which I would suggest everyone carries btw.
but as of right now he will be there for a couple weeks then we are going to see if we can get a medical transport back to NY.
things are just getting a little tough right now.
mom's hotel room was booked for this weekend so she has to check out and there is not a room available since it is bike week in myrtle beach.
I told her to contact the red cross because they will find her one for next to nothing or free.
she refuses to accept money from me to help. no matter how much I insist. she informed me she will send it back or refuse to pick it up.
so if any member here knows of a room in myrtle beach avail, please let me know asap. i'll pay for it and tell her I got it donated.

maybe there was an angel with him after all. he could've died or been a lot worst off then he is.
maybe dad was riding with him and cushioned his head the best he could?
