North Alabama Vintage Bike Club
19 Jan 2013 21:53
Hello all,
I started a vintage bike club back in November just to promote interest in old bikes and build a network of folks in the area with a love for older machines. I created a Facebook page for the club this evening.
Here is a link to the page. Give us a like if you will please.

Pretty cool boatdrinks. I like KZ in the picture of course, but also liked the SECA Turbo. I can't believe how expensive these old bikes are getting. I've been looking for a new project bike and have been searching CL's for a variety of old Yamaha's (81 XJ550R Seca or XV550 Vision or something). All pretty expensive and even with them being in bad shape. So I thought I may be able to get a SR500 for real cheap. Figured they wouldn't be popular and cheap (although I came to find they still made the things until 2008) and I always wanted a big bore thumper. Man was I wrong! They ended up being the most expensive (I talking of the 70's models). But with all the hype going with these cafe cable shows and cafe revival, prices for these vintage bikes are getting up beyond reasonable.
Current project 76 KZ900 (This was a Vetter model)

Both the KZ and Seca Turbo are mine or at least the turbo was until I sold it a couple of weeks ago.
You are right Joe, prices for bikes of just about any kind are getting pretty crazy. I got lucky and found a couple of two stroke enduros close by and grabbed them up. 1973 Kawasaki F6 and a 1974 Suzuki TS100 both for $400. The F6 runs and the little Suzuki needs very little to make it run. Both bikes are 100% complete and original.
Good luck on your search for a new project.
