I want to change my oil and am unsure of what the best type to use is. I've tried searching but have had no luck.

I also am curious about what type of gas to run in my bike? Should I go straight premium? There's a station in town that has the 110 octane race fuel.

And while I'm at it, the oil drain plug on the bike leaks. I found the reason why to be use of a regular steel washer. Shouldn't it be copper or brass? Where could I find a replacement? Cut my own out of some tube?

Here's what I use, there are other good oils out there, make sure their bottle is marked JASO-MA.

Also, be sure to change the oil filter.

You don't need 110 octane in a street engine; octane that is too high may actually impact performance. I use premium (93 octane) others use regular or mid-grade. Depends to some degree one what year/model you have (you need to add that info to your signature) because they don't all have the same compression ratios.

My KZ650-C1 and nearly all KZ's use an aluminum oil drain washer. These don't leak and they are still available from Kawasaki. They only cost 29 cents so don't even waste your time trying to make your own. Ed

Thanks for the thread on oil discussion. That is exactly the info I was hoping to find.

As for fuel I asked about the 110 octane because it doesnt have any detergents like modern fuels. Kind of the same worries I had about the proper oils.

Aluminum washer, gotcha. Will get one. And of course id change the filter.

If it's a nuisance to get a Kaw washer, the auto parts store probably has one that will work.
