Help.. need title

i recently bought a 78 kz650. The NYS title has some discepencies and i cant get it registered. Previous owner cannot be reached. Does anyone know what i can do or maybe have a title i could use. please help.

Call your local DMV and tell them the story and ask what can be done. All states are different some easy, some not so much.
But using a different title is just asking for more headaches than you can imagine.

IDK how it works there but where I live if you have title problems you have an inspection done, they run the VIN, if it's not flagged as stolen they will let you register and drive it. After 3 years you can then apply for a brand new title.

I would expect NY would have something along those lines where it could be reg'd without the title.
