Steell, can you elaborate more on the #3 rod bearing? Are you talking crank bearing? And why just #3? Was there some type of engineering issue with the pump or crankcase? I never heard this before. And are you talking the 1100 only? Sorry to jack your thread RS.

ZRX1100 uses the ZX11 bottom end while the ZRX1200 uses the ZZR1200 bottom end.
If you do a search in any of the ZX11/ZRX forums you'll finds loads of posts talking about it.

It's interesting that Kawasaki never resolved the problem 100% over such a long production run.

Personally I think it's due to tolerance stack up on some motors. Some 1100s will take a beating and never miss a lick, others blow even though they've been babied. Seems like if it makes it to 15k miles or so, then it will be good.

Just make sure your oil level is always good. There have been some rod bearing failures caused by bikes running after a spill. #3 is the one that starves first. If you want to prevent that, get a kill switch that is activated once the bike is on it's side. One in particular that I know about is called the Kwick kill.
Contact Pete Aronson at ELS kwickstand.net/Hyper-Formance.com/Welcome.html
This is the kwick kill: hyper-formance.com/Kill.htm
Just a suggestion. My 1100 has 24k on it and I have had no problems with engine bearings so far. It sees red line a few times per ride
Ride on.
