Cruise control- penny tech

And the box came..filter, check, oversized grips, check........wth..cruise thingy, out of stock??
Went to the website and longingly looked at the device...wait a minute...I've seen that before!
In the junk drawer...From when I got this house- someone had actually painted it white..and poorly!
It was a shower curtain hook, snapped off the tiny hook to attach the actual shower curtain and it fit perfect. Worked perfect. Every 20 minutes it felt like it would slip the tiniest bit, but I liked that- knowing it wasn't so permanent that it would somehow screw me up in an emergency.
7 hours on the bike and my wrist wasn't buzzing at the end of the trip!

I've run this style before and love it,much better than a paddle:
I'll probably try this style next:
Being able to take your hands off the bars is priceless for comfort on long hauls.

Cost just over $20 with tax.
To release it, you just roll the throttle back like you do normally, but with a little more resistance.
My first ride using the Photon Motorcycle 2 cruise control (CC).
Did a two hour ride round trip, with lots of country and highway riding, doing anywhere from 80 ~ 130 kph for periods of time.
First time grabbing the front brake lever I rubbed against the CC, and thought it is in the way a bit, but soon got used to it and it wasn't a problem.
First time trying to engage the CC, I turned the throttle too, decreasing speed, which is not what I wanted to do.
Next time I held the throttle better.
Once on the highway, I put on the CC when reaching speed.
A few moments later I thought to myself, now I've got this on, how do I shut it off?
I had a long ride ahead, maybe 30 minutes.
I'm used to CC in a car where you press off, or hit the brakes, etc to turn off the CC.
No problem. When I want to slow down, you just turn the throttle down.
It works quite well.
I like the fact that once I have it set to a speed in 5th on the highway, I can speed up if needed to pass or whatever, and then return to the set speed I had before by releasing the throttle.
Out of 10, I'd give the Photon Motorcycle 2 Cruise Control an 8.

Just a quick flip of the lever to completely disengage it, or just roll the throttle closed against the slight friction.
My biggest gripe was the plastic arm flexed a little so you had to speed up about 3-5mph faster than you wanted to cruise to set it, then let off. Reason why I want to try the other style.

I had the same gripe. The reason is a little play between the metal clip that hooks on the lug under the CC. Squeeze those tabs together on the clippy thing and it grips the lug better with less play. When you set the speed, push up on the lever with your thumb at the same time you lock it. That takes out the play and the speed stays where set. Setting fast idle for warm-up is the most troublesome , but it's a small price to pay. The unit only cost $30. Similar types were up in the $100 range.

Your thumb rests right below the lever. After a short while flicking it off becomes second nature, I don't even think about it.

I'll likely re-order it when it comes into stock.
That was my only real concern with some of the CC's I've seen- how fast does it un-control my cruise.
