how much is a 78 kz1000 worth

im interested in buying this bike.it is not running the guy said that it ran when it was parked 12 years ago.it dose have a title.comes with a bunch of police bike parts as well as the original parts.

gave 500.00 for mine offered the guy 300.00 and eventually got a title and gave him 500.00

What model is it? What is the general condition? Was it stored indoors? Heated space? How many miles on it? Are all the original parts there? Does the bike turn over? Will it fire with a charged battery and a squirt of gas? How much rust? Lots of questions need to be addressed before placing a value on it. From my limited experience you'll spend 1500-2000 in parts and a boat load of hours to make a safe, dependable daily driver out of it without fancy paint. That's assuming everything is there. How much is your time worth? Whats the asking price? It's true value is what someone is willing to pay. I got my '78 LTD 1000 for $1.

Have you got any pictures? I paid 2000 for mine but it was in top notch state with original paint,air box and exhaust. Also the guy had paperwork showing recent tune up,brakes,tires,electronic ignition new battery new seat cover and carbs rebuilt by redline in chicago. I have added some aux lights,new headlight,crash bars,vintage sissy bar,new tach cable and new voltage regulator. I would consider mine a daily rider at the time of purchase. Mine now has 14k on the clock.

he's asking $500firm.its gonna need repainted.its got like 20,000 miles on it.it was stored in a old barn.i think the model is a 78 kz1000-A2

If its all there $500 is a fair price, especially if it turns over.

Welcome aboard. They all ran the last time they were parked; I have not yet seen the first seller say his bike did not. It almost goes without saying that the engine will need some care after sitting for 12 years (could be rust on cylinder walls, etc.). Post a few pics so the KZ1000 experts on this site can tell if any major pieces are missing. Ed

yes engine turns over.im pretty sure most of the parts are there.are the police bike parts worth anything?.....seat,frame,fenders,and a box of misc. parts
