You guys are AWESOME!

With the flag so close to me, and a daughter and family living in Lodi CA., the next scheduled drop-off point, sure wish my Leukemia allowed me to join the ride on south from Bend...

ACTUALLY, just returned from Lodi and a visit with the daughter and family and a 60th high school class reunion - the long day and drive just about wiped me out, and that was in our car - never make it on the bike! Fortunately, my variety of Leukemia is the non-fatal type, it won't usually kill you, just sometimes make you WISH you were dead...

Gary, I want to thank you for hanging in there. You have my respect and admiration for what you have been going through. Good to know you got to see family. It is for men like you that others here can be inspired to carry & relay The Flag.

BTW, that is a great picture of you and your KZ. B)

Yes sir. Sure did. Just got back and took a nice hot shower. Weather wasn't bad just cool, cloudy and windy. Had some rain on I-90 at Issaquah up over the pass. Also a few spots on the way home. Temps ranged from 38-58 degrees, so not to bad. I meet Schuss for breakfast this morning at 8am, at the IHOP in Issaquah, then headed back. Roughly 750 mile weekend. KZ ran great with 0 issues. Didn't really track the mileage like usual, just about two tanks of fuel each way. That's the 5 gallon one i added last fall off of a shaft drive model, mines the LTD, which had a 4 gallon tank.
Schuss had the waitress take a couple of photos of us at the IHOP, so he'll have to post those.
So the Flag is Now in bend Oregon again. ;)
Once I set up a meet with Slayer61 down in CA, it will move to him next. Unless someone else steps up to take it,or move it.

I'm not working this weekend. Perhaps the flag could take a side trip to John Day so that Gary can carry it also.

HEY, thanks for the thought, but I already had my
"carry day" with Motor Head last year:

I was just thinking that another, longer, ride would sure be nice, but the distance from here to Bend, then on down to Lodi and return is too much at this point in my life. I had a bad 6 months this last winter, had some sort of intestinal virus added to the Leukemia that really laid me out - getting much better now, almost back to normal - but "normal" for me is STILL almost 78 years old! But that bike looks more and more tempting every time I walk past it out in the garage!

Here's a better pic of Motor Head and our bikes I took down at the "Gorge" area. between John Day and Bend:

Hey Gary, I sure hope that your better. It sounds like you had a real tough time over the winter. If we get out your way on a ride I'll give you a heads up. See if you still have that KZ and see if your up to a couple of miles? We ride out there several times over the summer. Problem is knowing ahead of time where the wind will blow us. B)

Hey Jon, I still have your cell # from last summer. Is it correct? Or did you change #'s?
Someone should start up a KZR Relay South West Leg Thread, so another section can take place. People can easily see that the Relay is coming or in their area. Get some contacts set up etc.
Hope you get your bike going ASAP, you need to ride that KZ again! ;)

Well, Fellas,
It's been a long time coming, but the flag is finally on it's way to California! :woohoo: I have been in touch with Darryl (motorhead) and we have tentative plans to meet up June 7 & 8 in Lassen National Park for the hand off. I'm just waiting on a final confirmation from motorhead before I make hotel reservations, and I'll be on my way!
If anybody is interested in riding along, Curtis (C.T.) That would be great. Come out and support the brotherhood of vintage Kawasaki riders in your area!
Craig (trianglelaguna) you're next brother! I read your bike is down, just give me a "heads-up" and I'll get headed down to the Carmel area for the day.

Ride safe my friends. Paul

Don't be ridiculous! It's only a flesh wound!
