vin nr on chassis and engine??

Hi fellow owners.

I contacted my local spares and parts dealer to find out whether they might stock a starter clutch kit or do they need to order one. Logically they had to order it and asked for the chassis nr as reference at kawasaki. They came back to me a bit later informing me that the nr doesn't show on their database at all.

Now I know that this old rustbucket didn't have any papers when I bought it so I went to our police station to check if this might be a stolen bike or if it was in an accident at some time during its life. They also informed me that the bike wasn't on their system at all. No record of an accident. No record of a previous owner. No record of registration. Nothing. Nada. -they did say that registration after restoration/repair/rebuild would not be a problem though-

My question is: did this happen to any other owner before? And how is it possible that kawasaki doesn't have this nrs on their database?

Can't answer why they can find it. I was able to pull it up from owners info on kawasaki.com. Both 81 750's come up under as 740cc when you search for it. All the parts numbers are there for starter and starter clutch. Rollers and springs for clutch are active as are the brushes in the starter.
I don't know how things outside the U.S. work for dealers.

On a side note I was able to enter frame number for one of my bikes. I found it was a kz750H3 instead of the H2 as my state lists it. So you might try that on the website.
